National Director, Warehouse Operations- Chicago/Dallas
Position Overview
The National Director of Warehouse Operations is a hands-on strategic thinker that is responsible for managing the US network of warehouses. The National Director works as a key member of the Supply Chain management team to manage national warehousing and logistics. Responsibilities include all warehouse functions, transportation, facilities, and fleet operations. They are also responsible for the development and execution of a business management strategy which includes staffing, compliance, rentals, logistics, fleet, purchasing, inventory control, and customer service to support company growth and profitability. This role will report to the VP, Asset Management & Warehouse Operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & People Management
• Increase operational effectiveness by managing direct reports and communicating values, strategies, and objectives aligned with organizational goals.
• Evaluate the team’s efficiency and productivity.
• Develop and execute strategic operational plans by reviewing ongoing state of the operations, identifying areas of opportunities, and implementing new elements to achieve company objectives.
• Work with direct reports to improve overall service while driving efficiencies through process improvement and best practices including, but not limited to, order processing, QC & repair, warehouse processes, and overall logistics.
• Establish clear management expectations regarding responsibilities, behaviors, and daily activities.
• Work with others in the department and outside partners to design existing and new warehouse operations.
Facilities & Transportation
• Responsible for establishing an annual transportation strategy that focuses on fleet optimization and improving route management
• Partner with warehouse and venue site leaders to ensure adequate capacity, resolve service issues, and drive optimization efforts
• Responsible for managing a long-range world-wide outlook for facilities to include anticipated capacity, optimal footprint, and cost impact
• Manages individual facility layouts, service offerings, and stocking programs
Inventory Management
• Conduct monthly assessment product utilization, demand, and costs which include transportation, maintenance, and operational costs.
• Assemble and execute strategies to maximize utilization and lower inventory costs through more efficient allocation and to achieve maximum fill rates with company-owned assets.
• Work closely with the Asset Management team to assemble annual CAPEX requirements with an aim towards minimizing external costs and maximizing utilization through high-yield investments.
• Review existing quality control and repair standards and work to maximize owned inventory uptime.
• Conduct semi-annual reviews targeting stagnant, aging, or obsolete inventory.
P&L Management
• Manage divisional P&Ls and oversee day to day operational costs.
• Analyze financial data to ensure all operations are running efficiently and within budget parameters.
• Identify variances between actual and budgeted spend and adjust priorities to meet financial goals and expectations.
• Develop budgetary guidelines and procedures for direct reports.
• Prepare future budget forecasts and provide recommendations that improve asset profitability, service, and product mix.
• Allocate budgeted resources for equipment, personnel, fleet, and facilities.
Culture & Customer Service
• Aligns with internal stakeholders and customers to develop policies that improve support for our front-line teams
• Generate regular divisional reporting packages that contain performance KPIs, customer service metrics, and pertinent updates for internal customers and local leadership teams.
• Gather feedback from field operations on service opportunities, product mix, and availability.
• Host frequent calls and in-person meetings with regional leadership teams to evaluate existing performance and discuss ongoing challenges.
• Incorporate applicable customer recommendations into existing processes to improve overall customer service.
• Conduct semi-annual internal customer survey and develop corresponding action and improvement plans.
Job Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of experience in multi-site warehouse management.
• Minimum 15 years of experience with budgets and direct P&L responsibility.
• Strong focus on culture, people development, and team building
• Strong operational leader with experience directly leading distribution and fulfillment operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet or exceed multiple concurrent deadlines.
• Proven track record of implementing performance improvement programs in a multi-site network including the ability to teach and foster a Continuous Improvement mindset to drive incremental improvements.
• A clear communicator with proven ability to articulate a vision, gain buy-in from the team and drive change in an ambiguous environment.
• Demonstrated a transformation mindset with financial acumen to drive enterprise value through multiple operational levers.
• Traveling up to 50% is required.

Work Environment
Warehouse
Work is performed at event venues as well as in a warehouse environment. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by ENCORE based in a warehouse environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area. When in the Warehouse, work will be completed in an environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members may use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
