Position Overview
The Manager, Audio Systems is responsible for the design and deployment of Encore Audio systems for production events, ensuring adherence to Technical and Production Standards. This position is responsible for mentoring and developing the Audio Systems Engineer team. The Manager of Audio Systems helps determine the key technical specifications of Encore Audio Systems, advises on training strategies for production audio systems, strategizes resource allocation, and collaborates with aligned departments to capture new business and/or execute definite business. These strategies will ensure best in class technical production, drive operational consistency, optimize deployment of key production resources, and the development of team members. This position will report directly to the Associate Director, Technical Production.
Key Job Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
• As a subject matter expert in the audio discipline, collaborate and influence the company technical direction advancing systems and service execution strategies.
• Lead the Audio Technical Production teams toward ensuring all events are properly scoped, managed, and executed to the highest levels of production efficiency, financial success, and customer experience.
• Ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Standards and Production Process.
• Collaborate with Product Management upon emerging audio technologies and adapting to industry trends.
• Provide consultation and guidance to sales and operations teams.
• Partner with production leadership in market demand planning.
• Support and execute all company initiatives. Communicate goals and objectives to team members clearly and frequently.
• Consult with the product management and warehouse teams to identify and successfully deploy new product solutions.
• Lead the performance management, development and succession planning of Technical Specialists and Audio Systems Engineers.
• Engage in leadership training opportunities.
• Partner with production leadership to design and implement KPIs for technical production.
• Lead by example in portraying a polished, professional image in accordance with the standards set forth in the Encore team member guidebook.
Event Project Management
• Lead the design, preparation and communication of technical documentation and labor standards for Production Audio systems.
• Ensure all operations teams are involved in the audio execution plan.
• Maintain organized show documentation and respond to concerns and questions.
• Lead the creation of technical diagrams for assembly, signal, and power requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
• Ensure all Encore Production and Technical Standards are enforced.
Sales Consultation
• Assist sales teams with technical consultation as necessary.
• Provide consultation in ECT development to mitigate external workforce and sub-rental spend.
Resource Allocation
• Assign and schedule team members ensuring that the appropriate talent is leveraged against the required task.
• Ensure assignments provide team members with opportunities for growth and development.
• Facilitate team members' efficient utilization and prescribing of technical resources by prioritizing internal equipment and minimizing sub-rental costs.
• Increase operational effectiveness by ensuring team members are demonstrating Encore purpose mission and core values.
• Monitor and improve the team’s efficiency and productivity using standards and KPI’s.
Customer Experience
• Ensures consistent execution for a cohesive customer journey throughout Encore’s network.
• Proactively supports collaboration with the Encore Venue, Logistics, Workforce, Specialty Services, Product, and Purchasing departments.
• Direct and manage the Audio System Engineers in the successful execution of all events, constantly working to establish and maintain the highest levels of client satisfaction on behalf of the company.
People Development
• Ensure assignments provide team members with opportunities for growth and development.
• Maintain clear expectations regarding responsibilities, behaviors, and daily activities.
• Facilitate training and development opportunities for team members and ensure a safe work environment consistent with company values.
• Provide continuous feedback to direct reports and conduct annual reviews.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of Audio Engineering experience
• 5+ years of people leadership experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Positive approach to teamwork, sales and problem solving
• Strong Client relationship skills
• Works well under pressure
• MS Office experience required
• Formal technical training desirable
• 4+ years 3D Drafting software knowledge/ experience

Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
