Associate Director, Motion & Interactivity
Position Overview
The Associate Director, Motion & Interactivity is responsible for leading the motion design team and creative technology freelancers/vendors, while executing and overseeing their own projects from concept through final delivery. This role is a hands-on contributor ensuring creative quality, timely quality execution, resource allocation and budget adherence for all deliverables produced under this function.
The AD also supports the advancement of new creative capabilities through the application of AI-assisted tools, interactive platforms and emerging technologies. This position serves as a bridge between creative vision and content execution, helping the Creative Content Studio deliver innovative, scalable, and production-ready solutions for live, hybrid, and immersive experiences. This role reports to the Group Creative Director.
Key Job Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of Motion Designers, freelance talent, setting clear expectations on project and creative direction, assigning and overseeing work, and supporting professional growth.
• Quote and align scope to project requirements, manage scope delivery, project intake and scheduling for all team members reporting into post-production, ensuring appropriate talent-to-task alignment.
• Provide regular formal and informal review, coaching, and support, escalating any challenges (delivery or personnel) to Leadership as needed that risk product delivery.
• Support onboarding/training of new hires, ensuring alignment with established standards and workflows.
• Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment and model professional, solutions-focused behavior.
• Perform effectively under pressure while maintaining quality, professionalism, and team morale.
Creative Production and Execution
• Identify, evaluate, and develop creative solutions to critical media production challenges.
• Work collaboratively and independently as required to produce high-complexity editorial and motion graphics output from concept to final deliverables.
• Act as an interpreter for client needs – strategizing appropriate delivery methods that convey the client's message.
• Develop and lead creative presentations to internal and external stakeholders, effectively presenting concepts and solutions.
• Oversee post-production deliverables to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and within approved resource allocation.
• Ensure quality and technical accuracy across deliverables, including resolution, formatting, color, codecs, and platform specifications for LED walls, projection, scenic elements, and digital channels.
• Establish and maintain templates, style frameworks, and reference materials that support consistent execution and efficient scaling of content.
• Review work-in-progress and final deliverables, providing clear creative direction and actionable feedback.
Innovation and Creative Technology
• Create, identify and recommend new creative and AI capabilities that enhance post-production, motion design, real-time rendering, and immersive content delivery.
• Develop and support the development of proof-of-concepts and prototypes for new creative solutions, including immersive and technology-forward experiences.
• Lead the application of AI-assisted tools, emerging creative technologies, and interactive platforms to support audience engagement, innovative storytelling & delivery, and efficient production.
• Partner with Creative Leadership, and cross-divisionally with Producers, Technical Directors and other stakeholders to ensure innovation initiatives translate into practical, production-ready outputs and measurable efficiency gains.
• Guide team members in training and adopting new AI tools and technologies, ensuring quality, scalability, and consistency.
Operational Support and Delivery Accountability
• Track project progress and proactively identify risks, proposing solutions before issues impact delivery.
• Ensure accurate project data and time tracking are maintained in the project management system.
• Manage freelance talent effort and output. Identify, negotiate and oversee specialty tech vendor relationships. Support project estimating and cost management related to post-production services.
• Take ownership of delivery outcomes for the post-production function, ensuring accountability for quality, timing, and budget adherence.
Training, Skills Development, and Standards
• Ensure the team maintains skills and training aligned with AI, evolving technologies, & industry standards.
• Identify skill gaps and collaborate with Creative Leadership to define development priorities and training opportunities.
• Lead internal knowledge sharing and best-practice sessions to support continuous improvement and AI adoption across the team and the organization.
• Uphold creative and technical standards across all editorial, motion, and technology-driven deliverables.
Organizational Leadership
• Act as an interpreter of client and stakeholder needs, translating creative direction into effective visual solutions.
• Lead and/or participate in creative reviews and presentations for clients, internal and external stakeholders as needed. Work directly with on-site teams as needed to ensure project success.
• Build strong partnerships with content and show Producers, Project Managers and technical teams from concept through execution.
• Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and strong communication in all interactions.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in Media Production, Communications, Motion/Interactive Design, Animation, or related creative or technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in post-production, motion design, or creative technology roles within an agency, production, or events environment.
• 3+ years of people leadership or team management experience.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects and Premiere Pro, with strong working knowledge of Cinema 4D and real-time or interactive platforms such as Unreal Engine or similar tools.
• Experience developing and working with AI-assisted creative workflows and emerging technologies.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and perform under pressure.
• A reel and creative portfolio that demonstrates range, quality, and relevance of work.

Work Environment
Office
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. In-person at Coppell, TX office 3 days-a-week required. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in an office environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.

Salary Pay Range: $111,678.00 - $145,181.00
The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. In addition, some positions may be eligible for other compensation such as potential overtime, bonuses or incentives.
