Stage Manager, Toronto (Hybrid)

Position Overview

A Production Stage Manager is responsible for independent production execution and at times assisting Event Producers and/or Creative Producers on events and projects from inception to invoicing. The Stage Manager acts as the Client’s primary point of contact as it relates to the run of the show when a Producer is not involved. The Stage Manager reports to the Associate Director of Event Production. 

Key Job Responsibilities 

Onsite Event Execution

• Act as a Production Stage Manager – independently execute productions.

• Maintain and revise the run of show once install begins.

• Direct rehearsals (when a Producer is not onsite) by communicating the client’s wishes to the technical crew.  Proactively and independently troubleshoot and resolve production issues as they arise.

• Ensure every lighting, audio, video and graphics cue happens at the correct predetermined moment (calling the show).  

• Ensure speaker and talent entrances happen at the right time. 

• Collaborate with the venue and Technical Teams to ensure customer’s expectations are exceeded. 

Producer Assistance

• Assist Producers and contribute to professional bids and proposals by actively using Encore systems and marketing tools. 

• Assist Producers by creating and maintaining organized show files for pre-production, onsite execution and post-production.

Client Management

• Act as the primary client contact onsite when an Encore Producer is not involved.  

• Assist client with show flow creation and help identify other opportunities for Event Production for future events.  

• Act as backstage manager as needed by assisting client executives and speakers for entrances and exits as well as requirements for their presentations. 

• Independently execute productions, and if applicable, support a Producer and Technical Director. 

Job Qualifications

• 5+ years technical and/or experience with basic knowledge of Stage Management and calling a show

• Knowledge of the audio-visual industry and/or hotel industry

• High school diploma required and college diploma requested

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment

• Strong relationship building skills

• Budget creation and proofing requires ability to create formulas and basic writing

• Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Approximately 10% travel

Hourly Pay Range: $30.00 - $50.00

The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. In addition, some positions may be eligible for other compensation such as potential overtime, bonuses or incentives.

Work Environment

Hotel

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based on an individual hotel or a representation of hotels in that city or area.

Office

Work is performed primarily in an office environment.  Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.   Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in an office environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.
