Position Overview

The Translator is responsible for translating and proofreading materials for internal and external Clients, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools. This position reports to the Communications Specialist.

Key Job Responsibilities 

• Read through or listen to materials in English language, ascertain understanding of the meaning and context of these materials, and convert them into French language, and vice versa from French to English, making sure to preserve the original meaning.

• Consult with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately.

• Translate a variety of documents and audio recordings.

• Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations.

• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.

• Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation.

• Translate and proofread all organizational announcements, homepages, banners, product categories, content pages, ads, Website, LinkedIn posts, blog posts, etc.

• Translate and proofread all Training materials, Social Media posts, case studies, publications, campaigns, contests, etc.

• Translate and proofread all HR/Corporate documents such as job descriptions, job aids, employee guidebook and documents, etc.

• Any other assigned translation and proofreading tasks.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in translation, or equivalent, specialization in marketing and publicity an asset

• At least (1) year experience in translation

• Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role

• Member of OTTIAQ, an asset

• Fluent in both French and English (reading, writing, communication and comprehension)

• Familiarity with translation software

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office products and internet browsing tools

• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors

• Strong organizational skills, with a capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent interpersonal communication and a good sense of organization, responsibility and autonomy

Work Environment

Office

Work is performed primarily in an office environment.  Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.   Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in an office environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.
